The big guns appreciate INs’ costly couches, hotel suite-sized dressing rooms and flat screen-equipped bathroom stalls. The employees even reward their star customers with a cocktail of their choice at the INs bar, another fine example of the store’s lavish excesses.
But sadly enough, all is not as it seems for the masochistic INs souls. Behind the marked opulence of the ladies room is a tiny enclosure called the employee room, where the staff crams together amid leftover garments and dust bunnies to eat their reheated meals. Mr. Benson’s generous donation to the staff: a microwave that looks like it’s been through the Gulf War, Bosnia and the Darfur combined.

The four main people around whom RETAIL’s storylines revolve and other characters gravitate are me and my three buddies Mannan, Penny and Sonny. All four of us work at INs and spend a substantial chunk of our downtime together. During our brain-numbingly tedious shifts, we bicker, whine, cackle, gossip and find creative ways to distract each other from the clock’s slow ticking mechanism.

Big city life has always been my preferred means of survival, allowing to give life to my sophisticated predilections for foreign films and museums. The anonymity of the expansive Krome metropolis has also meant that I could pursue my less glamorous fascination for cartoons and cover up my utter inability to bust a move!
